Much excitement early in the day – Arrival of our granddaughter Claire Abigail Hopes at 7.08am this morning.
Great weather, not hot and not cold – good for walking. We are walking over the the Zoo today and then up town to the Art Gallery.
Adelaide Zoo has the only Panda’s in Australia – no not that one, that’s a fake. The real ones keep their backs to you so you can’t get a decent photograph.
These are all Glen’s great photos – still without a camera, buying one this afternoon.
This is Wang Wang and Glen managed a photo, the panda didn’t around long. Adelaide Zoo isn’t a large zoo but has a interesting collection of wildlife that the other zoos do not have.
We had a relaxing few hours walking around the zoo. Saw a few birds and animals that we hadn’t seen before.
Patagonian Cavy (Mara) A new baby just born shortly before we got to the enclosure. It was wobbling all around the place with the others checking it out. It was no where near it’s mother.
The all time favourites Meerkats. They had one that is now almost white. It has been losing the colour in its’ fur but is healthy. The vets don’t know why it is happening.
These ones were very entertaining. They change colour as they age. Here are the three colour stages. The baby grey one had his routine down pat. He just kept swinging around up and over and past Mum caring for another one.
We visited the Art Gallery which was amazing. There were many 19th century artworks. The inside of the building is an art piece in its’ self. We spent quite a while there. They had a display of handmade antique lace, but I decided if I wanted to look at lace I would go to Spotlight – it’s cheaper there.
We walked into Rundle Mall and went camera shopping. The streets are jammed full of students. I don’t know many students there are in Adelaide but there must be thousands. It appears that nearly everyone is a student. The University is in the city and covers a very large area.
