We think we have a label for the bird now.
Nankeen Kestrel.
Today, we went to Coral Bay via the rough coastal track. The track wasn’t too bad but it is time consuming.
Coral Bay, there are two caravan parks which were quite full, a very small shopping centre, hotel and some accommodation. We went snorkelling in the bay, but there was no colour in the coral and very few fish. We wondered why people go there. I realized that you never actually see any images of the reef there. There were no day use facilities (i.e. park or BBQ facilities or tables) in the town apart from some beach shade shelters.
Fantastic Jetty / Launching / Parking facilities for the fishermen. Wind Farm near the Jetty car park.
There were plenty of Garfish near the jetty. Coral that has growing on the jetty rocks.
These are the crabs that we have been seeing everywhere but have been unable to take a photo. I got the opportunity at the jetty where I was above and out of it’s vision.
Coral Bay is for fishing enthusiasts.
We then drove to Maud’s Landing where the original settlers landed.
The beach and all that remains of the original jetty.
This seagull was defending his post to all comers.
We returned to our camp via the coastal highway (short cut track) and refilled our water container at a bore water tank on the track in. Time to do some washing.
No trees to hang the line, no problem :)
Down town Coral Bay Chinese Laundry.
