We are staying in the Boulia Caravan Park – we have stayed here before and enjoyed our stay. The night before we arrived they had 19 vans in, but since our arrival there have only been a couple. There were only three of us on Saturday night and I think us and one other on Sunday night, but there are about five or six in tonight. We had the park to ourselves on Sunday – so quiet. I told Lorlene (along with Barry – the Park Managers) that I had put a sign either side of the town saying the park was closed :)
Lorlene gave us a fantastic site – we have shade most of the day – really happy with that. We managed to clean the trailer out Sunday from top to bottom – I also washed all our blankets etc – great day for drying. Today we worked on the car. We are ready to head off tomorrow to Winton.
I love Boulia – there isn’t anything here – just a small 5 star supermarket cum hardware store – really really wide streets – the people are great and it’s just a very nice small town.
This is a Sand Monitor or Gould's Goanna – they walk with their tails in the air – and run like that, so that is why they are also called a racehorse goanna. These goannas don’t climb a tree unless they really have to unlike other goannas who take to a tree first up to escape. I now know that the ones I saw at Mt Remarkable with the alligator face are Lace Monitors.
This one has cruised past our camp site each day – just doing the rounds.
Every morning and evening there is the chorus of Brolgas which is loud, but nice – probably because we don’t have to listen to it every day of the week.
We plan on a early get away tomorrow as we have a few miles to put behind us to get to Winton.
