Friday 1st August – Warm Sunny, Clear Skies - gotta love it.

Today is rest day :) just mooching around the camp and relaxing.

Okay there were jobs to do, washing, fetching water, making breakfast.

We have dried egg on board for this trip mainly to use when making muffins etc.  I needed to use up a tomato and capsicum, so made an omelette.  Everybody used to complain about dried egg powder during WW2 – obviously they have improved it greatly, the omelette was just great.

We went on a riverside stroll and Glen spotted these guys.  Almost impossible to see.   No cheating do not scroll down

see if you can find them.

Welford 1 Aug 005

Hard to find, especially in an area the size of a tennis court.  I just couldn’t see them, eventually I found one and didn’t realize that the second one was right next to it.

There are two Spinifex Pigeons.

We have a big drive tomorrow to Diamantina National Park.  We need to go to Windorah to refuel and then head north to Diamantina.  After arriving we realized that we had been to Welford before, a very long time ago,  it has changed considerably since that visit and had we remembered prior, we would not have visited this time.  We are glad that we came and saw the changes.  The park was not very developed on our last visit, so we have seen many things that we didn’t the first time round.  The wind is up today and we have also the pleasure of the sugar flies.  Lunch was under the tree under our large green mosquito net.  A lucky find many years ago in a store in some town.  We used it for lunch a lot when we were in Sturt National Park.  It can be hung from a tree or over a beach umbrella  between your chairs and you can have your lunch in peace.  It was lovely sitting outside under the shade of the tree in comfort rather than being in the camper trailer, although the trailer has big screened windows you are still inside, and that’s not the idea when the weather is as glorious as this.
