Daytime temp has been mid 20’s – we were expecting really low temps…. whooo hooo. Warm sunny, breezy.
We woke early this morning and climbed Camp Hill which is just behind the camping area. It is 50 metres high. They recommend climbing it when you arrive to orientate yourself to the area. Either climb it at sunset or sunrise. With it being so warm this morning, we took the opportunity. No doubt we will climb it again for a sunset viewing.

After breakfast, we caught up on a week’s washing, and did the Sand Dunes tour this afternoon.

Ephemeral Freshwater Lake Fake Grasshopper – no idea
There were plenty of birds at the shallow lake. A camel print showing a slip and slide in the mud. The insect – I have never seen anything like it. At first view it certainly looks like a desert grasshopper, even with tiny grasshopper legs. It could jump, but it was more of a skip. It didn’t have a hard body outer layer, nor wings. The body was caterpillar like. I will have to try to find out what it is. The colour scheme is vibrant black, yellow, red to warn off birds. The face had beady black eyes and pointed head.
