On Sunday evening around 6pm the moon had risen -
Monday night – tonight is the full moon.
After breakfast we went on the Mulga Walk which is 4 klms below the escarpment of Home Range. The wind is affecting sighting of birds as they are all hiding in the trees. We saw a very large mistletoe on a gum tree and went over to investigate. I could see some nests hidden under the large clump of leaves and when I opened it up to have a better view, out darted a little brown bird between our heads. So now we know where they hide on windy days.
I still can’t find anything other than a brown honeyeater to photograph. What I really mean is stay still long enough for me to take a snap. Not having any luck at all with my bird photography.
We spent the rest of the day at camp, cleaning, repacking and getting prickles out of anything they can stick to. There are no flies but prickles, I guess you can’t have everything :)
Half an hour before sunset we headed up Camp Hill to view the sunset and full moon rise.
Just after sunset you can see mountains that you can’t see clearly during the daytime.
We should have gone last night although it wasn’t the full moon, the moon rise was nearly at sunset, we had to wait about hour after sunset for the full moon to rise. The wind got up and we sat on the top of Camp Hill, waiting, waiting.
Back to base camp for dinner….. so we have climbed Camp Hill twice now, once for sunrise and once for sunset and moon rise.
Loving your photos Chris - I know what you mean about the birds. I have very few photos for all my efforts - too fast for me!
