Beautiful day in Arkaroola. Just want we want to dry out the roads.
We had another sloth day, tidying up camp, washing, reading and chatting with our camp friends from Mt Gambier. After lunch we decided to drive to the Pinnacles and Mawson Valley for a short walk and a look see.
We did a part of the Pinnacles track down to the pinnacle in the middle of the valley.
A close up of the top – these cypress are doing well as this is solid rock.
These are the other two pinnacles in the valley.
I found a birds nest and tried out my zoom on a honey eater – it was so far away, I didn’t even know that there were two sitting together. After I took this photo, I heard someone coming along the track and who should it be but our Mt Gambier campers walking the track clockwise. We both had the same idea – only we were cheating and not doing the full circuit.
As we drove back, I spotted this juvenile shingle back lizard crossing the road. I was surprised to find this yellow painted one so far north as we are only a few hundred kms from where the ordinary brown ones are. He/She was very healthy, it is the only one we have seen in the Flinders Ranges.
