Above are some of the out buildings on the property at the camp ground.  The one on the left is a flour mill.  The buildings are in a bad shape with the walls falling down, only propped by supports.  I will take some photos of the homestead which is very unique.  In the early days, they tried various ways of making an income and apart from the flour mill, they also tried making brandy, as well as running sheep and cattle.  The original settler came from India and first bred horses to send back to the British there.

We went into Pinjarra town centre for a walk around.  They have a major craft community and the quality and variety of craft done by the locals was exceptional.  I don’t think I have ever seen such a wide range of quality local craft anywhere else in Australia.

The heritage precinct has been preserved and allocated to the individual crafts.  The old school house has the Quilters, and other buildings, have Potters workshop, Art Gallery.  Everyone can sell their craft in the craft shop.  There are also tea rooms and all of this is surrounded by lovely lawn and gardens.

How clever is this, material Christmas crackers.

They pull apart as well, but can be kept for each year, just refill with goodies.

You could personalize them with individual names and use as place markers.

This is a clever bag construction using fat quarters.  The colour choice and sewers ability wasn’t the best, but the idea was great.

We spent hours there wandering around and taking it all in. Across the road is the church with a grave yard.

The church overlooks the Murray River and there is a flood marker on the church from the 1945 floods.

There is a riverside walkway landscaped with seats and a large playground for the kids.  This seems to be the recipe for these charming towns.  Pride in their parks and gardens and plenty of public space.

Mandurah is only 20 kms from Pinjarra and is a large regional city.  We drove into Mandurah for a late lunch on the inlet.

While we were having lunch a dolphin was in the channel feeding and came in very close to shore.

Nice parks along the water way.  The swimming pontoons are a good idea.  We have seen a few of these in different locations.

Back on the coast, it was very windy, blew over the chair, the plate off the table.  It is too windy to be comfortable outdoors.  Camping off the coast is ideal.

After lunch, we headed back towards a warehouse shopping precinct to sort out lighting for the house.  It is great that Beacon Lighting is Australia wide.  We could see first hand what we needed.  The sales guy was great letting us know that they have an upcoming sale in two weeks and that would be the time to buy our lights for the house.  They currently have a fan sale, so that is working out for us as well.

This is a great location central to everything, we may stay longer and explore from here instead of moving.
