We decided to visit the Anzac Memorial which is a large parkland on Mt Clarence in Albany. In November, they had the 100 year memorial and the harbour was filled with ships for the re-enactment of the first and second convoys to leave Australia for WW1.
They had a massive influx of tourists for this event and we missed it but I think that was a good thing. The display inside was crowded on Saturday with just a few people and it is in a very small space.
The cafe and the souvenir shop. We had a special interest in visiting to find out more about Glen’s grandfather. We went to the library on Monday and were given some great tips by the resident history guru.
There were tours of the other heritage buildings on site which were occupied to after WW2. It should have been called a opening the building tour, as the tour guide was not much more than that. It was a poor show after the professionalism of Discovery World.
I would not rate it as being outstanding, but it is an important part of our history. The must see for everyone should be the War Memorial in Canberra.
