This is our cruise craft for the cruise up the Blackwood River and Hardy Inlet, up to Molloy Island. The cruise takes about two hours. It is amazing how shallow the large inlet is. The day started with threatening rain, but by the time we returned it was fine and sunny.
There are some stunning homes along the river, this is one we walk past each day. The best one of all is unfortunately hidden behind a couple of large trees. Just the perfect beach cottages.
There are a lot of hazards in the water, but the cormorants don’t mind. This one was in the middle of the extremely large inlet on the only roosting spot.
There is a cable ferry to Molloy Island – which is a closed island. It is exclusive to the residents only. Yet, on the other side of the Blackwood River from Augusta is East Augusta and they have to use a tinny to cross the river for supplies or drive around which is 70 klms. You would wonder why there isn’t a ferry across from here.
We enjoyed the cruise, we didn’t see much in the way of birds – a couple of white bellied sea eagles. The dolphins are still hiding from us :). It was a relaxing way to see lot of the river.
