Wednesday 31st December 2014 - misty rain early

We decided to head off early up to the Look Out which is above the town near the Golf Course.  We could not have picked a worse day.  It was misting rain and visibility was zero.  We were surprised by the lovely forest drive to the top and will return tomorrow for some photos.

The next part of our journey was to the Berry Farm, but we ended up going into Margaret River as we were not far out of Margaret River for the Berry Farm turnoff.  We have been trying to use different roads all the time and have covered quite a few now.

The Berry Farm was very busy with a full car park.  The cafe was full also.

I told you it was busy right?

Hell no, we aren’t going to be tasting the jams and chutneys when there is liquor on offer are we?

The jams and chutneys were not outstanding and expensive.  We did buy the three jam set at the bottom of this picture as it was really good value.  We bought two bottles of liqueur which were very nice indeed.  Coffee, Mulberry liqueur: plus a Pear and Boysenberry cider which I am drinking right now :)

We then went exploring down another forest track on our way to the Blackwood Meadery.  We stopped for lunch down a track sitting on a log.  You will remember me telling you when you stop at some where ordinary for lunch and then you drive on a few more kilometres and find a great spot.  Well, we drew the short straw again.

We consoled ourselves with more alcohol, it’s not what you think….. just a cup of coffee and a rumball.

The Blackwood Meadery is a little uncared for being run by elderly owners but produces a good product, so who cares.  It is obviously a hobby which has taken a step further, but with a bit of TLC could be flat out like the Berry Farm.  Lovely lady there and by this time, I was wanting a nanna nap.  We bought some Mead Beer, and three mead liqueurs.  So we are well armed for any cold, wet miserable days  to work our way through these.
