It was quite warm on Sunday, so we had a leisurely morning and after lunch headed north about 30 kms to the national park to see Castle Rock.
When you see if advertised it seems just like a little stroll to the lookout – well I can tell you – That is not the case. It is Class 5 – The car park is at the base of the mountain and you have a 2.2 km high uphill to get to the base of the rock and then climb the rock.
On the way out, we could see the Stirling Ranges – I am keen to get there and do some of the walks.
It’s hard when you don’t know that the walk is straight up hill. You keep hoping for a little respite, but that was not to be.
I said the granite reminded me of Stanthorpe area, they have a balancing rock here as well.
After all that hard work getting there, we weren’t going to choose the easy path, so we are up and over the rock.
After climbing those trees, this little ladder was really simple, could almost run up it.
The walk way is suspended out from the rock, with the platform supported by rods drilled into the rock.
Nice see through walk way so you can see just how far down it is. There is a girl at the bottom of the ladder, which gives you a perspective of the ladder climb.
It was worth all the effort. We were coming down around 5.20pm and there were a group going up. They would hardly have time to get there and back before dark. It is about 2.5 hrs to do the walk and climb and enjoy the view.
